After having breakfast at the hotel, we will start a city tour in Yerevan. During the city tour, we will see the most beautiful sights in Yerevan, like the Republic Square, where we will see the stone carpet right in the middle, hiding history of 3000 years underneath, and the Opera and Ballet Theatre, projected by the architect of Yerevan, Aleksander Tamanyan. Afterwards, we will admire the enchanting panorama of Yerevan and the biblical Mount Ararat from the top of Cascade Complex.
After the city tour, we will visit the treasury of the Armenian manuscripts – Matenadaran. Founded in 1959, Matenadaran is a depository of ancient manuscripts and has one of the biggest collections in Armenia.
We will also visit world famous Ararat Brandy Factory, which is one of the must-go places of Armenia. Here you’ll learn about history of ARARAT factory on a guided tour of the museum and have an opportunity to taste the best types of brandy.
Overnight in Yerevan
Day 4: Thu 15 May 2025 Yerevan – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan (B/-/-)
Not far from Yerevan, we will encounter two distinctly captivating sights: the Temple of Garni and Geghard Monastery. The 1st century Temple of Garni, an Ionic pagan temple, is built in the Greco-Roman style. Although it was destroyed by an earthquake in the 17th century, it was reconstructed three centuries later. During our visit to Garni Temple, we will have the unique opportunity to enjoy a performance on the duduk, a traditional Armenian musical instrument, making the experience unforgettable and enriching.
Nearby, we will visit Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site founded by Gregory the Illuminator. Also known as Ayrivank, meaning “the church carved out of the rock,” Geghard is renowned for its remarkable architecture. The site also features a spring considered by Armenians to be both healing and sacred. To enhance our visit, the “Luys” Choir will perform spiritual songs especially for our group.
Drive back to Yerevan.

Day 5: Fri 16 May 2025 Yerevan – Khor Virap – Areni Cave – Noravank – Yerevan (B/-/D)
After breakfast, we will visit Khor Virap – cradle of Armenian Christianity that has become a pilgrimage site. The monastery complex sits on a rocky outcrop above the river plan, and offers a magnificent view of Mount Ararat. Khor Virap plays an integral role in the history of Armenia due to the legend of St. Gregory the Illuminator, the first Armenian Catholicos, who was imprisoned there for 13 years, trying to spread Christianity during the reign of a pagan king – Tiridates III.
Then, we will drive to Vayots Dzor province to visit an old cave with an exciting and mysterious past, Areni -1 cave. The mysteriousness of Areni 1 is connected to the archeological excavations done in the cave. These excavations led to the discovery of the earliest known winery in the world (6100-year-old), also the world’s oldest – 5,500-year-old leather shoe.
Afterwards, we will head to Noravank – a 13th century Monastery. The view from the gorge with rocks in Noravank is breathtaking. The rocks resemble ancient sculptures, towering high above the valley floor. The gorge is deep and narrow, adding to the dramatic effect of the scene. The colours of the rocks change according to the angle of the sun, from shades of grey to brown and orange.
From Noravank we will drive to Yerevan, where we will have dinner with a folk show at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Sat 17 May 2025 Yerevan – Ejmiatsin – Zvartnots – Yerevan (B/-/-)
After having breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Ejmiatsin, the religious center of the Armenians and the seat of the Catholicosate of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The main cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the oldest Christian monuments in the world. Its history dates back to 301, when Armenia became the first country to declare Christianity as a state religion. We will visit Ejmiatsin Treasury Museum, where some holy and unique details are presented. One of the treasures is the holy sword with which Christ was wounded (placed in a silver box), the ruins of Noah’s ark in a reliquary, which was created in 1698, as well as some details of art.
Next to the Ejmiatsin Cathedral is St. Gayane Church, a domed basilica-style church dating back to the 7th century. According to a legend, it was erected over the tomb of the Virgin Gayane, who suffered martyrdom for preaching Christianity in Armenia. Here, we will participate in a mass.
On the way back, we will visit the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral. Zvartnots Cathedral is a fascinating archaeological site in Armenia that was a majestic 7th century cathedral with exceptional architectural qualities. On sunny days, Mount Ararat in the background provides a magnificent backdrop for unforgettable photos.
In Yerevan, we will visit GUM market, where you can find fresh fruits and vegetables, meat, spices, many types of dried fruits, cheeses, traditional Armenian bread (lavash), pickles, and more.

Day 7: Sun 18 May 2025 Yerevan – Gyumri City Tour – Bavra – Vardzia (B/-/-)
After breakfast, we will drive to Gyumri – Armenia’s second largest city. We will walk through the streets of the city considered as the “capital of laughter and humor”, being also the cradle of great artists and craftsmen, so it is also known as the cultural center of the country. You can enjoy a walk through the city knowing the area and the picturesque streets, especially the architecture of the old town is outstanding, being the city one of the few places that has maintained the authentic Armenian urban architecture. We will also visit the Yot Verk (“Seven Wounds”) Church.
Cathedral of the Holy Martyrs is a place of great religious and historical importance. Built in the 5th century, this impressive cathedral is a symbol of the Armenian faith and houses a rich cultural heritage in its architecture and religious art. The cathedral is the seat of the Ordinariate for Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Eastern Europe of the Armenian Catholic Church. Initially, the cathedral was intended to be called “Holy Cross”, but it was changed to “Holy Martyrs” in honor of the canonized martyrs of the Armenian genocide.
Then you will be transported to the Armenia-Georgia border in Bavra to continue your trip in Georgia.
At the end of the day, we will arrive in Vardzia.

Day 8: Mon 19 May 2025 Vardzia – Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia (B/-/D)
After breakfast, our tour takes an extraordinary turn as we journey to the ancient cave city of Vardzia. Carved into the rugged cliffs of the Erusheti Mountain, Vardzia is a true marvel of history and architecture. As we explore its intricate network of caves, tunnels, and rock-hewn churches, we’ll be transported back in time to the Georgian Golden Age. We’ll admire the exquisite frescoes that adorn the cave walls and learn about the monastic life that once thrived within these rocky chambers.
Next, we will head to Akhaltsikhe, where we will explore Rabati Castle. Originally built in the 13th century as a Muslim fortress, it has been inhabited and expanded by various rulers over the years, including Georgians, Persians, Ottomans, and Russians. Today, the castle has been restored to its former glory and serves as a cultural and educational centre, with several museums, galleries, and exhibitions showcasing the region’s history and culture. We will explore the castle’s intricate architecture, including its mosques, churches, and other religious buildings, as well as its courtyards, gardens, and fortifications.
Return to Vardzia.

Day 9: Tue 20 May 2025 Vardzia – Borjomi – Kutaisi (B/-/-)
We leave Vardzia in the morning and venture to the enchanting town of Borjomi, renowned for its natural wonders and therapeutic mineral springs. We will be surrounded by lush greenery and pristine landscapes of the famous Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. A visit to the iconic Borjomi Central Park will lead us to the source of the town’s acclaimed mineral water, where we can savour the refreshing taste and discover the secrets of its healing properties.
The day ends in in one of Europe’s oldest cities – Kutaisi.

Day 10: Wed 21 May 2025 Kutaisi – Gelati – Prometheus Cave – Kutaisi (B/-/-)
In the morning, we will visit Gelati Monastery, located right outside of Kutaisi. Once an important centre of science and education, this is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery’s architecture is also remarkable, featuring intricate stone carvings, frescoes, and mosaics that showcase the artistic achievements of the Georgian Golden Age.
Continuing our exploration, we journey to Prometheus Cave, a subterranean wonderland adorned with mesmerizing stalactites and stalagmites. Named after the Greek mythological figure, this cave system spans over 11 kilometres, offering a fascinating underground experience. We will traverse its illuminated pathways, witness subterranean lakes, and marvel at nature’s artistic creations.
Overnight in Kutaisi
Day 11: Thu 22 May 2025 Kutaisi – Motsameta – Tbilisi (B/-/-)
While in Kutaisi, we will venture to Bagrati Cathedral, another UNESCO World Heritage Site that overlooks the city from atop Ukimerioni Hill. This 11th century cathedral, with its commanding presence and stunning panoramic views, showcases Georgian medieval architecture at its finest.
Then, we will drive 6 km northeast of Kutaisi to visit Motsameta Monastery. The church is dedicated to the memories of David and Constantine Mkheidze, noble brothers who were martyred during the invasion of Arabs in the 8th century. Today, relics of saints are preserved in the crypts, beneath which visitors seek the answers to their wishes.
We will finally journey to the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi.

Day 12: Fri 23 May 2025 Tbilisi City Tour (B/-/-)
On this day, we will go on our fascinating Tbilisi city tour. Founded in the 6th century, the capital of Georgia has been a cultural melting pot between Europe and Asia. Firstly, we will visit the Old Town of Tbilisi with its unique architectural style, local markets, souvenirs, narrow cobblestone streets, fortresses, and views. We will pass by the renowned sulphur baths at Abanotubani, the very source of Tbilisi’s founding and a testament to its cultural heritage. We will examine Narikala fortress by lift. Established in the 4th century, the fortress is one of the oldest historical buildings in the country. While exploring the Old Town, we will visit churches of great historical importance – Anchiskhati and Sioni. We will walk through Meidan Square. Here, we will have a chance to see the beautiful Metekhi cliff with its colourful buildings – undoubtedly a catchy view. Finally, we will walk down to the central Rustaveli Avenue, where we find Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Parliament, Rustaveli Theatre, and famous art galleries. Our exploration culminates at Sameba, inaugurated in 2004. Tbilisi Sameba Cathedral is the largest cathedral in the Caucasus.

Day 13: Sat 24 May 2025 Tbilisi – Alaverdi – Ikalto – Tsinandali – Telavi (B/-/-)
Our journey in Georgia starts with Kakheti region, often referred to as “the cradle of wine”. Its winemaking method using Kvevri, a unique ancient vessel, in on UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Being in Kakheti region, we will not miss out on the opportunity to visit two of the most important historical sites of the region – Ikalto Monastery and Alaverdi Cathedral. Founded in the 6th and 11th centuries respectively, they have been centres of education and religious activity during the medieval period. Apart from their cultural significance, both are also known for their stunning natural beauty.
Next, we will travel to Tsinandali, where we will explore the most important local site – the manor house museum, dedicated to the life and work of a prominent 19th century Georgian aristocrat, poet, and military figure, Prince Alexander Chavchavadze. We will enjoy wine tasting at the estate.
On this day, the tour ends in Telavi, a charming historical town considered to be the centre of Kakheti region.

After breakfast, we will check-out from the hotel in Telavi and drive to the south of Kakheti.
We will explore Sighnaghi, a picturesque town overlooking the stunning Alazani Valley. Known as the “City of Love”, Sighnaghi is famous for its charming cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture.
Continuing our journey, we proceed to Bodbe Monastery. Today, there is a nunnery where the monastery used to be, and the St. George Cathedral, part of the monastery, holds the remains of St. Nino, who brought Christianity to Georgia in the 4th century. Set amidst exquisite vineyards and gardens, this monastery exudes a sense of peace and tranquillity.
Our next destination is David Gareja Monastery Complex, a place of profound spiritual significance nestled amidst the striking landscapes of the Gareji Desert. This unique complex, founded in the 6th century by one of the thirteen Assyrian Fathers, David Garejeli, comprises monasteries, chapels, and cave cells intricately carved into the rock formations. We will marvel at the centuries-old frescoes that adorn these rock-hewn sanctuaries, offering glimpses into Georgia’s spiritual legacy.
After our Kakheti adventure, we will drive to the capital, Tbilisi.

Day 15: Mon 26 May 2025 Tbilisi – Mtskheta – Tbilisi (B/-/-)
Just a short drive away from Tbilisi, Mtskheta offers a glimpse into the country’s glorious past. Our journey will lead us to the stunning Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, a masterpiece of medieval architecture and a revered religious symbol, where, according to a legend, Christ’s robe is buried. We will also visit Jvari Monastery, perched on a hill with commanding views of the surrounding landscapes. While in Mtskheta, we will also visit Samtavro Monastery. First built in the 4th century, the main temple dates back to the 11th century. St. Nino lived here, Kind Mirian and Queen Nana, first Christian monarchs of Georgia, are buried here. Samtavro is one of the most important and noteworthy monuments in Mtskheta from the historical and cultural point of view.

Later, visiting the most interesting part of the Pearl of Caspian Sea, Baku, the Old City – with the discourse of Azerbaijani – Icherisheher: Entrance gates of Old Baku; fortification tower; Caravanserai complexes – Bukhara and Multan; Maiden Tower (under UNESCO protection); old mosques and bathes; Miniature Book Museum; Shirvanshahs’ Palace (under UNESCO protection); narrow small cobbled
stone streets. Have a tea break with Azerbaijan traditional tea set. Continue with Nizami Street – a large shopping street in downtown Baku. Starting to Absheron Peninsula Sightseeing tour by visiting one of the unique architectural buildings in the world – Haydar Aliyev Center – designed by Zaha Hadid (Iraqi British designer); Free time for taking photos around the building. Later, visiting Fire Worshippers’ Temple – Ateshgah: The temple was built over a pocket of natural gas that fuelled a vent providing an ‘eternal’ fire which Zoroastrians used to worship. Continue to visit Yanardag – Fire Mountain: a natural gas fire that blazes continuously on a hillside on the Absheron Peninsula near Baku which itself is known as the “land of fire.” Flames jet into the air 3 meters from a thin, porous sandstone layer. Visiting the Catholic Church in Baku (the only Catholic Church in Azerbaijan). Visiting Church of the Saviour – Lutheran church in Baku. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 19: Fri 30 May 2025 Baku – Khizi – Guba – Baku (B/-/D)
After the breakfast, start the trip to Guba – it is 1.5 hour way to Guba; Guba is located on the Eastern end of the Caucasus mountains, which was part of the Caucasus Albania Empire (IV BC – VII AD). There were 26 tribes in this empire. Today remains of these tribes (Ketish, Haput, Lezgin, Tat, Cek, etc) live in the northern part of Azerbaijan. All these nations preserved their language, culture, traditions till today.
On the way, visit Candy Cane Mountains in Khizi; free time to take photo of nature monuments. Amazing swirls of red, orange, pink and chalk have led British travel writer Mark Elliott (author of the very popular ‘Azerbaijan’ guidebook) to call them the Candy Cane Mountains. Look under your feet: you may discover tiny fossils and perhaps even a squid-like belemnite from the Cretaceous period.
Visit Beshbarmag Mountain – it is sacred place for local people on top of mountain. Every year lots of people come to visit this sacred place.
After arriving in Guba, visit Juma Mosque (outside); Guba Carpet Weaving Center and Guba Memorial Complex. Later, visit Chanlibel Lake, enjoy views of the lake and nature.
Drive back to Baku.

Day 20: Sat 31 June May 2025 Baku – Gobustan – Baku (B/-/-)
After breakfast, 1 hour drive to visit the mud volcano near Gobustan – mud volcano is a landform created by the eruption of mud, water and gases on the hill which is located 8 km from the highway. Several geological processes may cause the formation of mud volcanoes. We will change our transport to local taxis, because the drive is off road. On a rainy day, it is impossible to drive up the hill.
Visit Gobustan National Park (under UNESCO protection): Gobustan is an open sky museum on rocky mountains on the Caspian Seaside. Primary people carved their daily lifestyles on rocks. There are more than 6,000 carvings on the rocks near the Caspian Seaside.
Visit Bibiheibat Mosque – one of the major monuments of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan. The existing structure, built in the 1990s, is a recreation of the mosque of the same name built in the 13th century by Shirvanshah Farrukhzad II, which was completely destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936. Visit Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum named after Latif Karimov, which is built in the form of rolled carpet – 3 floors building: 1st floor Old Carpets / 2nd floor XX century carpets / 3rd modern art carpets.
